TED Conference 2019: A Hot Air Balloon World

An interactive ‘wow’ moment that transported guests into another world, and helped TED exceed their social media goals by providing a place for content to be captured and shared.

Situation

TED began hosting their annual event in 1990 and since then it has been a formative foundation for our culture. One of TED’s core values is innovation, which you can see in the ways they continue to expand and grow year after year. In 2019, TED came to us, asking if we could create a wonder-scape for their annual end-of-show VIP party that would make guests feel as if they stepped into another realm.

Solution

We tracked down a vintage hot air balloon from the 1970’s and made a whole world out of it.

Result

Guests were delighted with the size, scale, and colors inside the balloon-world, and it was the most shared moment of the evening.
